Property lines, zoning regulations and negative grading make this a challenging site. I gave a good deal of consideration to moving the building to a fresh foundation 100 feet to the west.
This was, and probably is the smart choice. That said, the granite foundation of this building is truly spectacular, and I simply wanted to save it.
Take a look at the image gallery to get a view into this unique structure. Pay special attention to the short video that gives a glimpse into the water issues that need remediation, yikes!
Unfortunately hiding behind the old stairs we uncovered some more significant structural issues with the foundation.
As with many aspects of a restoration one step forward and two steps back. Should I stay or should I go?

I say stay 🙂 I would love to see this old building restored and return to serve as something useful. I am enjoying reading about the project on here and hope you are able to get this into a lovely office for yourself. Also would be great to have a webcam going one day so we can watch the comings and goings at this lovely historic site/rail junction.

I am planning to put a couple of webcams up on the old order tower looking down the rail and the trail as soon as I have WIFI service, Glad you are enjoying the slow progress!
